Life after "Life in Boston"
Once wrote a song call this is life in boston,
I jotted it down on attic tape decks and back seats,
I muttered some musing, we all had a good laugh
I emailed the music with big grins and smug thoughts
a week or two later a got an odd phone call
a soft trebled voice whispered "have I got an offer"
and I only knew he had computers and a phone
his t-shirt demeanor shouted, I'm laid back and care free!
But then, he said to me
"will you come to boston in 2022",
I said, "I'll see what I can do"
he said have I got an offer for you
It seems the city had heard life in boston
saw that it was clever and the city was rotten
put all that together and I see what has happened
they think song can save city or at least stop corruption
The speakers were set up and the mayor was speaking
and with this in my head I had made my decision
the mayor was serious, on this he'd impressed me
With hands in my pocket, I quoted completely:
You people, of greater-D.C.,
I'd be honored if you took my song from me,
you're all to good looking to disagree
